THE GRAND LODGE OF On June 18, 2016, a ceremony was held in Orient Plovdiv to establish the union "National United Grand Lodges of Bulgaria". The new structure is the result of the joint actions of the Grand Lodge of the Old, Free and Accepted Masons in Bulgaria, the Grand Lodge of the Old Accepted Scottish Rite in Bulgaria, the Grand Lodge of Bulgaria. The Union aims to realize the idea of a Shared United Bulgarian Orient (SOBO) and is a step towards it. The meeting was attended by over 300 brothers from various union lodges from all over the country. The three NWU Grand Masters signed the agreement establishing the union, thus also exchanging mutual recognitions between the Grand Lodges. The special guest of the event was the Supreme and Sovereign Commander of the Supreme Council of the 33rd and last degree of the Old and Accepted Scottish Rite in Bulgaria H.M. No. Petar Kalpakchiev.
